This is the End, my beautiful friend!

Well folks, all good things must come to an end and thats whats happened to a generally successful season for PSFC. 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats in 10 games. No bad for a team scattered to the four winds for the majority of the year.

For my own part, my first season with Primary Schools Football Club has been hugely enjoyable. A chance to get back to honest to goodness football, camaraderie and a decent run of form. Much better than that ramshackle Craigmount/Forrester/Firhill mob I used to run with. (Well more of a pitiful amble, really).

I've always seen the Primaries as an "Edinburgh Select". Only the cream of male talent could be considered for inclusion, the "elite" if you will.... Well that was blown to buggery early days....they let ME in for a start!!

The PSFC Player of the Year Awards were held last Thursday and the details of the worthy winners are below. I hope to put up some photos from our final game drubbing at the hands of a (p)lucky Craigroyston and from the gala evening itself as soon as "Laptop Geek" Garry Forgie presses the "SEND" button on his email!

Games against Boroughmuir, Newbattle and Leith Academy were all called off by the opposition because they were concerned with stories of PSFC's now legendary reputation for violence and/or intimidation.

Well, only two weeks to go until the end of another season and its been pretty good for PSFC. 5 wins in our last 7 games, scoring 34 goals in the process from 10 different players. Outstanding! To this point in the season we have conceded 28 goals in 9 games, so there is still room for improvement but to be fair no-one could have predicted how well our season would go after that thrashing in Musselburgh!

Next week brings the famous Mike Darnell 7's and Primaries will want to do better than the ignominious first round exit last time out. The rumour mill has been working overtime as to whether PSFC would be fielding one or two teams, however, the most shocking development in the last week stemmed from a radio phone it that suggested that top scorer Gary Sullivan would turn his back on his team mates to play for a Forrester VII. The player himself has yet to confirm or deny the reports but could be in for a fiery reception if the rumours are proved accurate!

Watch out for a new poll later in the week do decide this years Goal of the Season, with 6 contenders in the running.

Till then, keep fighting the good fight (as we say in the Primaries changing room)

The coveted Man of the Match trophy is again up for grabs this year. I will be keeping visual record of the weekly recipients and announce the overall Player of the Season at the Awards Night at the end of June.

Lasswade 28.05.09

So its over the city boundary to Midlothian for this weeks match up against highly fancied Lasswade. Primaries had their scout look at the opposition during their 6-2 destruction of staff football whipping boys Craigmount and the report threw up some alarming information.

It turns out that, somehow, the Lasswade heidie has managed to secure the services of not one, not two, but THREE Scottish Football League players as part of the teaching staff.

Names and clubs were a closely guarded secret last night but the rumour mill has been churning out, well.... rumours all day on who these three superstars could be..... Has "Bad Boy" Barry Lavety cleaned up his act and decided to give something back to society? Has Kevin Thomas binned the crutches and joined the Beanbag chuckers indefinitely? Who knows.... Lets be honest... Who cares?

One thing is for sure, whoever turns out for Lasswade, Primaries are gonna have to get the finger oot in order to take anything from the game.

Early team news:- Gilhooley, French, Jamieson, Durkin and McCann all missing due to "professional commitments" (whatever the hell that means) but good news is that Neil "before Zod" Adams is back and ready to clean up the bloody awful mess left by make shift centre half Sullivan a.k.a the Kaiser.

Three wins on the tot and 16 goals into the bargain will have the PSFC troops in high spirits but this may be their toughest test to date.

Tynecastle/St.Davids 21.05.09

The Primaries steamroller ploughs onto Dalkeith on Thursday with a crunch match against much fancied Tynecastle St.Davids. PSFC will be in bullish mood after 11 goals in their last 2 games, but will want to cut out any mistakes as they look to mastermind their 4th win of the season.

Its worth noting that the team has been scoring goals from all areas this season with no less than 10 players hitting the mark. Goalscoring stats below. Primaries have no new injury concerns to contend with on their trip south at the midway point of a promising campaign.

He's gone too far this time!!

Well, the sad man that i am, staying in on a friday night with nothing to do, no pals to go out with, babysitting while the wife goes on the Randan...... I decided to have a stab at a new badge for the PSFC, cos, we dont really have one! We've got that smart Milan Tour '04 badge on the strip, but what about a PROPER CLUB BADGE?

I decide to give it a bash.

I thought to myself, design something contemporary, classy, sophisticated... ITALIAN!... but with a huge nod to our proud scottish roots so, if we ever thought about going on a jolly round the baltic states again, we could show who we were and where we came from!!

A hat and a balloon to the first man that figures out which clubs badge this is stole... er MODELLED on!!

The Tie That Binds!

It has recently been brought to my attention that PSFC is not only a sterling group of young sporting gentlemen, it is also a highly fashionable hotbed of haute couture.

Well! That is a turn up for the books!

So in keeping with tradition and in order to mark the advent of the considerable influx of new, raw talent into this historic gathering, Greg has proposed that we design and produce a new club tie!

I have found a fascinating website that will facilitate our ideas into a design that will encapsulate what it means to pull on the Rossoblù!

Well, it had to happen!

PSFC's preparations were put in a real fankle late on wednesday night when Boroughmuir inexplicably called off their tie at late notice. No official reason for the chunder has been forthcoming but our mole in the camp has offered up the most likely cause after speaking with a Boroughmuir insider.

Basically, they were running scared. I mean REAL scared, yeah?. They had been given a detailed dossier with feedback from the dismantling of Currie/Balerno the week previous and they simply didn't fancy another basinful.

To be fair, who can blame them?

I mean, who could blame them if they didnt fancy coming up against the Tinkerman's "scatternaccio" playing style.....

Then there is the triple decker attack line of Jaimo, Beggsie and Gazwaldo. What defence in their right mind would fancy a second helping of that?!!

And then.... factor into the mix the resurgence of Greg the Cannonball in midfield, Willie "Javier" Mashedpotato in the sitting role and lets not forget ol' Paddy Power at the back and his partner in grime, Neil ...... BEFORE ZOD!!!

Its a well known fact that the uncompromising full backs were top boys at The Adam Ant School of Defending.... and faithfully carry out the school motto.... "Stand on de Liver!"

No, we cant be too harsh on them.... if they didn't have the stomach for it, and mind - not many fowk have, they were best staying well clear, WELL CLEAR! Lest the Primaries Football Juggernaut rumble over the top o' them on their way to certain glory!

07.05.09 Boroughmuir

Hi Fans.

Its Boroughmuir this week for Primaries. After our recent crushing defeat of Currie/Balerno, spirits are high in the camp (resident Derek Akorah look-a-like Stevie Gilhooley has had his ouija board out again) and the boys are looking forward to achieveing their first back to back wins of the season.

Team news to follow.

Injury news:- Jamie Begg has ligament damage after trying the splits at Po Na Na on friday night, Gilhooley still out with an abductor pull (look it up!) but Forrest Snr back in contention after signing a five year underwear deal with Loctite.
